Book of Odds: Most Likely to be a Household Name
Book of Odds staff
Book of Odds was honored to be one of 30 companies invited to take part in the inaugural In-NOW-Vation Technology Showcase & Celebration hosted by the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge.
The goal of the event was to “…showcase the latest products and developments in science and technology, while providing networking opportunities and a chance for the innovation community to celebrate itself.”
Our demo table featured a slideshow detailing Book of Odds’ strategic direction, vision, and monetization opportunities, a look at some new products (iGoogle gadget just launched, Yahoo! homepage app coming soon!), and a station where visitors could sit down and play with the site in real time.
We had a blast mingling with the nearly 300 attendees, many of whom seemed genuinely excited about our product and future. Throughout the night, guests were asked to vote for their favorite company in four categories:
- Best in Show
- Most Likely to be a Household Name in Five Years
- Coolest Technology
- Company I Want to Have a Beer With
Book of Odds was competitive in all four of the categories (at one point leading in three) and was ultimately anointed “most likely company to be a household name in five years.” We are very proud of this honor, which matches our vision of providing a useful, lasting resource that will be around for many years. We couldn’t have done better.
All in all we had a fantastic time at the event, met some great people, and saw some really interesting companies on the cutting edge of technology and innovation in New England. To see some photos from the event, check out the Book of Odds Facebook Page.
Finally, congratulations to the evening’s other winners as well as the sponsors and the indispensible MIT Enterprise Forum. Here are the other deserving winners:
