I found this truely fascinating and deeply moving. We always think of events happening before our lifetime as happening a long time ago. It is sometimes good to remember that the Holocaust was not that long ago and there are people in this world today still emotionally effected by it. I think you are a fabulous woman Ruth and I thank you for helping me to realise what I have in this world.

I've read many stories, listened to many testimonials, and watched too many documentaries. Yet, each story touches me in a different way. I always find them intriguing to the point that...I can't believe this tragic event really took place. It is by far the single most historical event that took far too much time for the allied forces, or the world to address.

I find it hard to believe that such a dark and tragic event happened not that long ago. Ruth Neray tells her story with dignity and a quiet inner strength. I found the part about the Nazi officer pleading with her fascinating. Even though he was part of an evil machine, deep inside he knew what he was doing was wrong. Men like Hitler are successful because most men are too weak to stand up to them. Ruth's story reminds us that every life is precious and we mustn't allow abusers to go unchecked.
I think Ruth's story also reminds us that no matter how bad things get, if we have faith, there is a bright future.
I feel honoured to know her son and his family.

"I found the video very interesting.

Listening to a survivor is always very moving. Each one lived it in his or her own way, and in the end it is surprising that they can still speak of what they went through.

This lady said something that I had never heard before from survivor accounts. It is when she says that she had decided to wait for death in peace to 'not have to make any more decisions.'
This reflects that the daily life they carried, in addition to the destitution and maltreatment, was permanently impregnated with uncertainties. The stress must have been uninterrupted, and the anguish of knowing that a wrong decision meant tortures or an inhumane death is, for us, difficult to imagine.

This is probably why Elie Wiesel said that he who was not in Auschwitz cannot imagine Auschwitz.

11 times in front of Mengele and living to tell of it… what an experience!

Thanks and bravo to BOO."

Very moving-- and what a creative use of the Bokk of Odds. Do more of this kind of serious stuff, along with the frivilous.

These stories have to keep being told. Before long, all the remaining Holocaust survivors will have died of old age. It's urgent not to have this history pass into mere legend.
