It’s been a long time since anyone actually wanted seven-swans-a-swimming. What really captivates at Christmas? Book of Odds lists some of the things that do (and don’t) top holiday wish lists at every age.
DONNING NEW APPAREL: The odds a girl 6-11 will hope to receive dolls or accessories for the holidays are 1 in 1.82, which are nearly the same odds a woman who plans to celebrate a winter holiday would like to receive clothing or accessories, 1 in 1.91.
PLASTIC BOYZ II MEN: The odds a boy 6-11 will hope to receive action figures or accessories for the holidays are 1 in 2.17, which are nearly the same odds a man who plans to celebrate a winter holiday would like to receive gift cards or gift certificates, 1 in 2.16.
NO GLASS CEILING: The odds a girl 6-11 will hope to receive building or construction toys for the holidays are 1 in 10, which are nearly the same odds a woman who plans to celebrate a winter holiday would like to receive sporting goods or leisure items, 1 in 10.2.
SILVER AND GOLD: The odds a child 6-11 would like to receive electronics for the holidays more than any other type of gift are 1 in 4, which are nearly the same odds an adult who plans to celebrate a winter holiday would like to receive jewelry or precious metal accessories, 1 in 4.08.
PRESENCE OVER PRESENTS: The odds an adult will most look forward to spending time with family and friends during the holiday season are 1 in 1.52, which are nearly 3 times the odds an adult will regift during the holiday season, 1 in 4.55.
