Definitions

Method used to evaluate the general physical condition of a newborn. Taken at 5 minutes after birth and measures five easily identifiable characteristics of newborn infants. The total score is the sum of the scores of the five components, on a scale of 0 to 10. A score of 9-10 indicates that the neonate is in excellent physical condition.
