Who Sleeps in the Nude?

If you see a stack of fresh towels behind the reception desk at your next hotel, they may not be solely for the pool-goers. A “sleepwalker audit” conducted by British hotel chain Travelodge found that nearly all of their 400+ sleepwalking guests were men, wandering around the hotel, occasionally asking, “Where’s the bathroom? Can I check out? Do you have a copy of today’s paper?” But here’s the kicker: nearly all of these guys cruising the hallways were completely nude. Hence the towels.
Turns out, there’s a 1 in 3.23 chance that a man sleeps nude on a regular basis. In a Marie Claire article on male sleepwear, one interviewee remarked that the cool sheets against his naked body are a heavenly rush…with an added bonus: “It's easier to have sex! …I can just roll over, and it happens.” Women, on the other hand, like a bit more cloth: there’s only a 1 in 7.14 chance that a woman will slide between the sheets with nothing on. Victoria Beckham, once known as Posh Spice, is one of the few that indulges. She told Elle Magazine that with her soccer star husband, “I’m going to be naked if I’m getting in bed with him every night!”
If a guy doesn’t like to bare it all in bed, then he’s likely to opt for boxers or briefs (odds of this: 1 in 3.23). Although it may kill a few fantasies, the chance a woman sleeps in her underwear is a definite long shot: 1 in 50.
So, while men are generally in the buff or in their skivvies, what do women tend to sleep in? 1 in 4choose shorts or a t-shirt, while 1 in 1.82 (55%) women opt for the classic nightgown or pajamas. Although the satin and plaid wonders seem to work for women, they don’t hold the same appeal for men. One Marie Claire male interviewee admits to a sense of “warmth and security” in wearing proper night clothes, but on a whole, the odds a guy will don a full-set of PJs is a low 1 in 7.69.
