Hey everybody, I literally have 10 minutes to write to you so I will try to do the best I can. I can not believe that I am now a three-time Olympian and two- time Olympic medalist. It is just incredible!! The past few days have been absolutely surreal, and I have only slept 45 minutes since I won my medal. It has been a whirlwind tour and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. My cheeks are hurting because I have had a smile from ear to ear for two days and my throat hurts because I’ve done so many interviews. It is 2:39 am and I am off in a few minutes to the Today Show again. I really love those guys!!
Skiing my final run on Saturday was one of the most amazing feelings I’ve ever had. Before I stepped into the gate, my teammates Hannah Kearny, Heather McPhie, and I were all in the warm up tent dancing around to our music and really taking in the moment. We were singing out loud to “Party in the USA” because we wanted to have an American sweep of the podium. I felt so confident in the tent—I knew that I was going to put down the run of my life.
It was absolutely pouring down rain but that did not put a dent in my spirit, it actually helped me! When I finally stepped into the gate about to ski, I looked out at the skyline of Vancouver in the distance and the crowd down below and I had a sense of calm that everything was going to be ok. As I narrowed my focus onto my line in the course and the task at hand, I knew I was going to have to come out of the gate charging!! I skied the fastest run I skied all week and went the biggest on both of my airs. It was absolutely the run that you dream of having at the Olympic Games!! And to come away with a bronze medal and get to share the podium with my teammate was just a dream come true!!
Well 10 minutes is up and I promise I will write to you a bit more when I get the chance, but it is off to another whirlwind day of interviews and fun press stuff. This is the rewarding part of all of my hard work every day in the gym, and training as hard as I could. Now I can finally sit back and enjoy what I have worked so hard to earn. So ta-ta for now and I will talk to you soon.
