Today came very early, 4:20 am to be precise. I was asked a few days ago if I wanted to go on the Today Show and do an interview with Matt Lauer. Of course I said yes, Matt Lauer and the Today Show are awesome!! I really gave the hair and makeup girls a run for their money showing up looking like I did. I have to tell you, I don’t do mornings and my bed head definitely reflects that! They did an absolutely wonderful job and the interview with Matt was so much fun. He is such a genuinely nice guy and you just want to have him as your best friend. I was their first athlete that they interviewed LIVE in Vancouver, what an honor! Today Show, you guys rock!!!
I was promptly taken home and by 5:45 am I was sound asleep again. I woke back up at 9:00 am, ate some breakfast, and called my fiancé Matt (he arrived the night before) and my friend Curt and we went for a beautiful walk across the Lions Gate Bridge. Driving across the bridge isn’t scary at all, but walking across it is a whole different story. We did a spitting contest over the side and it took a long time before it hit the water. A little gross, but I know you would do it too!!!
I took the rest of the afternoon a little easy. We all went out to lunch together and also with a good friend (she’s like my other Mom) Kathy. It’s so nice to have all of my friends in town, it is so much fun!
At 6:30 we went up for training and I had a little bit of a rough day. The backsides of the moguls were very icy and so my feet kept slipping out from under me. I know this may not make any sense to you, but just take my word for it, it wasn’t pretty! But near the end of the day, I had a decent run and called it a day. Once I sat down and watched the video with my coach it felt a lot worse than it actually looked (always a good thing).
We had such a fun ride down from the mountain. We had the tunes going and we were all dancing in the car. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard trying to dance. So that put me in a little better spirits. I think we finally got home around 10:00 pm, had dinner, and I was fast asleep before my head actually hit the pillow.
