LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: DAY ONE AT THE OLYMPICS
Arriving in Vancouver was a little surreal. As soon as we stepped off the plane we got our credentials. I’m officially an athlete at the Olympics.
LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: HEADED TO VANCOUVER
We have finally left Steamboat and are headed up to Vancouver. I must say that Steamboat is the most Olympic-friendly place in America. They have a festival every winter and we were lucky enough to be there for it.
LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
Today was one of those days that mogul skiing seemed easy. Now I know that for many of you that statement could never possibly be true, and to be honest, there are not very many days that I believe it myself. But for whatever reason, today just seemed to be effortless.
LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: Q&A
As an Olympic athlete I get asked some pretty funny questions from time to time. The American public only sees us every four years for two weeks—not a lot of time to get acquainted. So I will answer some of them, and maybe these were ones you were wondering yourself.
LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: WELL-WISHERS AND INSPIRATION
As an athlete I get very caught up in my own little world and I don’t realize how many people are inspired by what I am trying to accomplish. People from all across America send me messages of “Good Luck” and “Congratulations,” and I can’t tell you how much it means to me.
LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: AN OFF-DAY
Days like today are when I feel so lucky to be an athlete. Most people have to get up, go to work, and do the daily grind. But not me—today is my day off.
LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: TAKE-OFF
As I sit on this very short flight to Steamboat Springs, my mind can’t help but wonder what is on the horizon. We are here for a training camp and then heading to compete at the Olympics!!
LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: STARS AND STRIPES AND HOPES AND DREAMS
We just got our Olympic uniform! This is one of the best days ever because before this moment the Olympics have seemed just like a far off goal. But today—today is the day you can actually FEEL it!
LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: QUALIFYING FOR THE TEAM
Most people don’t know that not only are we competing amongst ourselves (women mogul skiers) for our spot to the Olympics but we have to compete against men’s mogul skiers, men’s and women’s aerialists, and men’s and women’s skier cross skiers. And let me tell you, this was the most unbelievably hard team to make for our women’s mogul team.
LIVE FROM THE OLYMPICS: HELLO FROM THE "MOGUL MAMA"
Hello to everyone out there. I want to introduce myself. My name is Shannon Bahrke and I am a 12-year member of the U.S. Freestyle Mogul Ski Team.
